New Brewery Round-Up

The Maine Brewers Guild has a great motto: “The way beer should be,” and has a Plan-Your-Route tool on its website (https://mainebrewersguild.org) to get the most out of your next brew road trip. Here are two new breweries that MBG profiled, which happen to be three hours apart.

Rail Yard Brewing • Milo, Maine

Railyard Brewing

Located in Milo, a town deeply rooted in Maine’s railroad history, with active tracks still running and a bustling yard nearby in Brownville, Rail Yard Brewing and its sister restaurant, the Rusty Rail, are the next chapter of connection, industry, and community for the region that serves as a gateway to Maine’s northern destinations.

After acquiring the former Bissell Brothers Three Rivers location in fall 2025, partners Tracy and John opened the Rusty Rail taproom in January 2026, highlighting a thoughtful selection of local beer, wines, and spirits. As of April, brewing is now underway at Rail Yard Brewing, with John producing beer for both the Rusty Rail taproom and Two Knights Brewing Company in nearby Sangerville.

Set on the doorstep of the Maine Highlands and North Maine Woods, Rail Yard Brewing is perfectly positioned for your next scenic drive, camping trip, or weekend adventure to Katahdin. If you find yourself exploring this singularly beautiful part of the state, make sure to stop in and experience the cozy pub menu, Maine craft beverage selection, trivia, and live music they offer every Thursday – Sunday.

Auxilary Brewing • Limerick, Maine

Auxiliary Brewing Company

We are excited to share that Auxiliary Brewing Company—a family-owned craft brewery nestled in the foothills of Limerick, Maine—has begun to welcome folks into their taproom!

Built around a love of tradition, community, and craft, Auxiliary is now located in the former Gneiss Brewing location, focusing on a range of classic beer styles, especially European lagers and ales, with an ethos of incorporating local ingredients whenever possible. With more than a decade of Maine-forged experience behind the brewhouse, founder and head brewer Elliot brings a thoughtful, quality-driven approach to every pour, while leaving room to explore a wide range of styles beyond their core.

More than just a brewery, Auxiliary is designed as a place to gather. Elliot, his wife Autumn, and his sister Korali have created a family-run space rooted in connection—whether you’re a local stopping in for a pint after work or making the drive to enjoy a weekend in the hills and woods. The taproom features mezzanine seating, board games, darts, a spacious beer garden, and a rotating selection of Maine-made beverages (including wine and gluten-free options), with plans to host everything from book clubs to holiday and community celebrations.

Open Friday through Sunday from 12–8 p.m., Auxiliary Brewing Company offers a refreshing mix of great beer, thoughtful hospitality, and a setting that invites you to slow down, connect, and stay awhile with family, friends, and neighbors Food trucks will be joining the celebration this weekend, and the team plans to keep a steady stream of pop-ups throughout the summer— be sure to follow along for updates on who’s coming through. Food trucks looking to add dates to their schedule are encouraged to reach out!
